3 Signs Your Commercial Facility Needs a Dehumidifier

clean high traffic floorsEverywhere you turn there are signs that you need to pay attention to, especially if you are in charge of a commercial facility. For the maintenance department, they could be chasing around a number of problems, from leaks in the bathrooms, having to keep those bathrooms clean, spills on the floors, electrical problems, HVAC issues, and much more.

While you may spend a considerable amount of time, money, and energy maintaining your commercial floor surfaces to look brand-new all year round, you also want to look at other areas that could indicate you may have a moisture related problem.

Moisture can cause mold and mildew and a number of other problems. During the winter, even though the relative humidity in the air is considerably low, at least a lot lower than it is during the summer, that doesn’t mean everything is fine within your commercial facility. Here are three signs you might need to consider having a dehumidifier, at least in certain portions of the facility itself.

Potential Sign #1: You’re constantly chasing wet spots around the entryways.

You can get a fan, heater, or dehumidifier to help take care of the moisture that gets tracked in from outside. Most of this moisture is either in the form of rain water, snow, or sludge during winter weather. It can happen at any time, including during the warmer spring months when everything is melting away.

Potential Sign #2: The windows in the facility are constantly attracting moisture.

If you constantly see moisture on the interior portion of your windows, it’s a pretty good sign that there is too much moisture inside the building itself. For the entire facility, you may need a much different solution than just a dehumidifier, but for an office or other portion of the building that may be seeing too much moisture buildup on the interior portion of the windows, a dehumidifier may be a good solution.

Potential Sign #3: Mold spots on the ceiling or corners of walls.

If you begin noticing mold developing on the ceiling or along the corners of your walls, that’s a good sign there’s too much moisture in the air.

It’s important to keep your commercial floors clean on a regular basis, but it’s also essential to pay attention to various signs that may indicate moisture related problems developing.
