After you’ve stripped, buffed, and cleaned a commercial floor surface, it’s time to finish the job and make sure it shines. There are a number of steps you should take in the process.
Here are three steps to finishing off the floor surface, whether it is linoleum tile, ceramic tile, a parquet floor, or even polished concrete. Once you’ve take these three steps, the floor surfaces should look great for a long time to come.
Choose the right wax.
It’s time to apply the wax finish, and you want to have the right wax for the particular floor surface. Not all wax is the same, so make sure the wax you choose will not only work best with the floor surface, but that it will not cause damage to the floor surface when it comes time to strip it down and start all over.
Have unfettered access to the floor.
This may mean closing certain areas of the facility or waiting until the facility is basically closed down for use for the night. Avoid trying to wax certain areas of the floor surface, waiting for it to dry, and then doing the rest of it. This may not be practical, especially in certain environments like a hospital, but whenever possible, be able to close down access to the floor completely until you can apply the wax and it has enough time to set and dry.
Use property equipment.
The commercial floor cleaning equipment you use will have a direct impact on the finish itself. If you try to use wrong equipment, either equipment that is too large or too small for the surface area, it can leave uneven patterns, lines, and basically an overall poor appearance to the floor surface.
