3 Tips for Drying Commercial Floors During Inclement Weather

vacuum_toolkit_73When the weather turns bad, especially during the winter, it can be incredibly difficult for a commercial facility to maintain safety and a great appearance for everyone, from employees to consumers who may be coming in off the street.

When the snow is falling, when there is sleet or freezing rain, or it’s just pouring outside, you want to keep those commercial floors as dry as possible. The most common areas that are of most concern will be the entryways.

Here are three tips that can help you dry those commercial floors, especially during inclement weather.

Tip #1: Use walk off mats.

If you have walk off mats, these are generally black or gray mats that are placed just inside your entry doors where people will step onto them before stepping onto the linoleum tile floor surface. They collect a lot of snow, slush, and even rain, creating less water getting tracked in across the rest of the floor.

Tip #2: Use commercial dryers.

A fan or heating system can be used to blow air across the floor surface just inside the doorways. This will not only keep the entry part of the building a bit warmer, especially during the winter, it can also dry the floor more quickly. These are especially important in an office building, for example, during the morning when most people are coming in for work.

Tip #3: Use clean mops.

Using clean mop heads, you can mop up of water that gets tracked in on the floor on a consistent basis. Again, this is best in an office environment where most workers will be coming in at about the same time, maybe during a two hour window in the morning. This may also be practical and necessary during the lunch hour.

When you follow these tips, it will help keep those commercial floors dryer during inclement winter weather.
