Winter is a tough time for anyone to keep a building or home clean. The longer winter drags on, the more frustrating and difficult the cleaning process will be. The best way to inspire your maintenance personnel to continue doing a great job and not let up, even though the weather may start to turn warmer and there are fewer winter weather events is a matter of approaching the right mindset.
Speak to them directly.
The best way to inspire employees to feel more motivated and determined is to speak to them in person. Offer them your appreciation for the job well done they’ve already managed through the winter and remind them why it continues to be such an important job.
Offer incentives.
Everyone responds well to bonuses and other incentives. You could offer them a little bonus at the end of the winter season if they continue doing a great job. Or, you can have a competition that will inspire everyone to buckle down and stay focused.
Thank them.
Just receiving a paycheck isn’t enough when you’re a leader. You want to recognize their efforts. Many maintenance personnel are commonly overlooked and the work they do does not get much recognition. However, you understand the value of what it is that they do.
You can send a memo or personal letter to each of your maintenance personnel thanking them for what they’ve done and complement them on how well the commercial facility, including those floors, look.
