So Much Attention Placed on the Inside, Don’t Forget the Outside of the Commercial Facility

open windowOne of these areas that commonly gets overlooked, especially during the winter, is the outside of the facility itself.

Why is the outside so important?

It’s the first thing people see when they pull into the parking lot and approach the facility. If you’re operating a retail strip mall, office space, or even a hospital, you want to make sure people approaching the building feel comfortable and confident before they even step inside.

During the winter, it’s extremely challenging to try and keep up with the cleanliness on the outside of the building. We have snow, ice, road salt, sand, dirt from plows that got a little too aggressive with the edges of the parking areas, and so much more.

What can be done?

One of the best things to do during the spring and summer months, of course, is pressure washing the exterior of the building, sidewalks, steps, handrails, and so on. It’s also essential to have an experienced professional keep those windows clean. It’s a good idea to have a window cleaning service take care of those glass structures weekly.

Another thing that can be beneficial during the winter is to ensure the walkways, steps, and landing areas of any facility are completely free and clear of snow, ice, slush, salt, sand, and other debris. Keeping the walkways clear and creating a nice, smooth appearance may seem only aesthetic, but it will indicate to anyone approaching the building or who uses it regularly that the interior is going to be even more impressive.

What do you think? Do you think it’s worth the investment of time and human resources to pay attention to those little details? If so, why? If not, why not?
