How Often Should Commercial Carpeting Be Vacuumed?

Still Relying on a Residential Vacuum for Commercial Carpeted Office Space? How this Could be Harming EmployeesThere are certain questions people have about just how often various surfaces need to be cleaned. For example, when it comes to commercial carpeting in an office space, does it have to be vacuumed every day?

That all depends on the company using the facility.

Of course, if there is a stipulation in the lease contract that the company maintaining the property is going to vacuum every single evening after normal business hours, and they are not doing it, that will have to be taken up with them directly.

As for how often is reasonable, that also depends on a number of factors. How much of foot traffic and how many people are using this office space regularly? What kind of work do they do there? Do people have a tendency to eat food at their desks? Do they track in dirt from outside because the smoking areas around the grounds are not paved, have dirt or pebbles, or provide more opportunity to bring in extra debris?

In most cases, it’s a good habit to get into to have commercial spaces vacuumed at least once a week, at a minimum. Even a relatively small commercial office area will gather dust and dirt over time. The more people that use the facility, if they drop staples, paperclips, coins, eat food at their desks, and so on, it’s going to get dirtier quicker.

Some spaces need to be vacuumed every night.

That’s not the case with all of them, but it’s important to decide of just how dirty they get in a day, how clean people want these facilities to be, and what kind of availability their maintenance personnel have to do this vacuuming every single day.

A high quality commercial vacuum cleaner will make the job quicker and easier and do a much better job than a residential one, meaning it might not be necessary to vacuum every night, but perhaps a couple of times a week or, if it works out that way, just once a week.
