What’s the condition of your commercial floors right now?
Pay close attention to the edges and corners of the commercial floors. Do they seem to have some residue building upon them? Do they have a lip or are angled down to the main portion of the floor? What about those baseboards?
You see, you can tell a lot about your commercial floor by looking at these out-of-the-way areas. Depending on the types of machines and equipment your commercial maintenance department has access to, they may or may not be able to handle these corners, these edges effectively.
For example, using a large surface area buffer, scrubber, or polisher is good for large commercial floor surface areas, but it’s not practical for getting up against the baseboards or edges of the floor surface.
You would need another machine, another piece of equipment that’s specifically designed to help clean smaller areas, especially right up along the edges and baseboards.
Corners can be problematic, especially when you consider that most floor cleaning machines that are handheld have a circular pattern on them. To get in these corners, it might require ‘elbow grease,’ or manual scrubbing.
If these areas are showing signs of fatigue, wear-and-tear, scratches, dirt buildup, stains, or other issues, address that with your maintenance department. There could be a very good reason why they’re not getting to these areas. It could be that they don’t have the right equipment.
Right now would be the ideal time to provide them the equipment they need to keep those commercial floor surfaces looking their best, whether you think many people will notice or not.
