Shh! The Noise from a Floor Cleaning Machine Could Be Detrimental to Daily Operations at a Commercial Facility

central-vacuum-quietWhen Roger was hired to be responsible for commercial floor maintenance at an office complex, he had plenty of experience in the past, but not in a specific office environment. He wasn’t prepared for the kind of comments, frustrations, and mistakes he was about to make and face.

One of the key complaints involved noise.

There were dozens upon dozens of small businesses in this facility. Most of them did not have customers coming onto the premises directly, but there were some that did. Many of these businesses had clients, partners, and other business associates that were frequenting their spaces, and that meant being focused and diligent enough to maintain a safe environment for everyone, including the public.

Still, Roger faced some interesting challenges. He couldn’t possibly do everything necessary for keeping the facility clean during normal business hours, but at the same time he had to be there to mop up spills, stains, or when the weather was foul, to make sure water was sopped up quickly from inside the entrance areas.

Usually, when an office cleared out for the day, it was usually 5 or 6 o’clock in the evening. That allowed him the opportunity to vacuum those short pile carpet areas, but the commercial vacuum cleaner the company had was incredibly loud. That led to numerous complaints from other tenants of the facility.

Some of these businesses would have people working late at night, which meant Roger had few options. That’s when he sat down with his supervisor to discuss purchasing a new machine. He understood that a quality commercial vacuum and other machines could be invaluable, especially those that were focused on quiet operation.

It made a world of difference and most tenants were never aware that Roger was diligent, even in the office next door.
