Strategies to Ensure Safety among Clients While Cleaning Commercial Floors

safety-firstKeeping commercial floors clean is usually a top priority for business owners and management companies. For organizations that have a constant flow of clients or customers, ensuring their safety while also keeping those commercial floors clean and pose a bit of a challenge.

Depending on the type of business or organization you operate, you may require various strategies in order to ensure the safety of those clients.

Have maintenance crews work overnight when possible.

Many businesses and organizations close their operations at a certain time in the evening, and don’t open until the next morning. This is usually enough time for maintenance crews to tend to commercial floors.

Washing floors is the simplest way to maintain a high quality condition, but scrubbing, buffing, and waxing are also vital on a regular basis. Having plenty of time to tend to the commercial floors increases the prospects of having them remain in the best condition possible for many years.

Cordon off areas during floor maintenance.

For organizations, such as hospitals, it is not possible or feasible to close the entire building, even for a few hours. This makes tending to commercial floors more challenging, especially to ensure client safety.

Closing off sections to the general public for an hour or two during the slowest times of business operations is the most effective way to ensure client safety.

For hospitals, for example, employees may still be required to have access to these sections. Those employees should be advised well in advance of the schedule for cleaning. They should also be advised to use caution whenever the floors are being cleaned, buffed, or waxed.

Closing a 24 hour business for a brief period of time.

If you operate a 24 hour business, it may be necessary to close the business for a few hours during the generally slowest times. This should be done about once a month so that the old wax can be stripped from the floor, then buffed and re-waxed in order to help maintain its like-new appearance.
