Taking Care of Those Vinyl Commercial Floors is Simple, When You Know the Tricks

Still Relying on a Residential Vacuum for Commercial Carpeted Office Space? How this Could be Harming EmployeesCaring for commercial vinyl floors is generally a simple procedure, but if you’re using the wrong technique, solutions, or even commercial floor cleaning equipment, it can actually cause damage to the floors. It’s a good idea to have a solid understanding about proper commercial vinyl floor maintenance before beginning any work.

Experienced maintenance departments and personnel will already understand all of these aspects. Those who are relatively new to maintaining any type of commercial space could find some of this information noteworthy.

Don’t allow spills to linger.

It’s important that spills get cleaned up as quickly as possible. Even though it’s a vinyl floor, that doesn’t mean it’s cheap. Anyone who has not had to actually foot the bill to install a brand-new vinyl commercial floor may have no clue about the thousands upon thousands of dollars it costs.

If a spill is noted or reported, somebody should clean it up as quickly as possible. All that’s really needed is a mop or a damp cloth. Try to avoid pushing the spill around and rather blot it up. If you push it around trying to mop it up, the solution or material has the potential to get into the narrow gaps between the vinyl tiles.

Regularly sweep or vacuum those floors.

If you don’t sweep or clean the floors on a consistent and regular basis, especially every day, then dust, dirt, and other foreign contaminants will continue to accumulate on it. Every time someone walks over it they are going to be driving it into the vinyl floor surface.

That can cause cuts, scrapes, and gouges that allow dirt to work deeper, ultimately making it incredibly difficult to keep them clean and increasing the risk of damage to the floors.

Use mats.

Especially during heavy rain, snow events, or generally throughout the winter, using mats is a great idea, especially at the common entry areas. These mats will attract salt, sand, dirt, pebbles, and more during these weather events.

When you’re proactive about commercial floor maintenance the floors will look great for many years to come.
