Tips to Avoid Emergency Repair Mistakes

Don't forgetEmergency repairs can certainly be necessary at times, especially when it comes to commercial facilities. When it comes to your floor surfaces, things will eventually begin to wear out, break down, and your maintenance personnel could very well be called upon at any time to address cracked tiles, loose tiles, cracked linoleum, loose linoleum, cracks, debits, and more in concrete floor surfaces, and so on.

Those emergency repairs shouldn’t be done hastily and they should be done by somebody who has plenty of experience. After all, a hasty emergency repair job could lead to other damage and risk factors, including tripping hazards for those coming and going throughout the facility.

Here are a few tips that can help your maintenance personnel avoid making some of the most common emergency repair mistakes.

Tip #1: Hire reliable and experienced personnel.

If you try to save money by hiring an experienced maintenance personnel, they may have some experience repairing different aspects of a building or facility, but they have no experience with commercial floor surfaces, they may end up spending an inordinate amount of time, energy, and money with trial and error patches.

Instead, make the right investment and hire at least one experienced and reliable maintenance personnel.

Tip #2: Use the right tools.

If your maintenance personnel does not have the right tools on hand to do the job, it won’t be done properly. Sometimes you might need a floor grinder. Other times you may need a variety of other tools, including grout tools, putty knives, and more.

Make sure your maintenance personnel have access to the right tools.

Tip #3: Don’t cut corners.

“Just getting the job done” isn’t good enough. You want to make sure the repair is seamless and nobody is even going to notice it. You also want to make sure it’s done right so there’s no risk of tripping for anyone who happens to use the facility, otherwise that could increase your liability.

When you use the right commercial floor cleaning equipment and repair tools, emergency repairs will more likely be done properly.
