Crack repair is a trade which is closely related to stone masonry. A crack is seldom the only thing that needs to be repaired – often broken corners, chipped edges, etc., are also part of the scene. With care and dexterity, all cracked, broken and chipped marble, granite and travertine can be repaired. Often you need to supplement the job with additional broken pieces. Ask the manager or owner if they can supply you with left over tiles which could be hidden in the closet or basement. In recent times epoxy and their colour filler has become available to assist in this repair. Break or cut the tile to the right size and use our Colour Epoxy Kit to glue it in place, and fill in any cracks. After which you can hone or polish and bring it back to the same level as the surrounding.
This Colour Epoxy Kit is easy to mix and use on the job site.  Curing time is about a day.  We have 12 different colours you can choose from. You can venture into buying several different Colour Epoxy Kits and mix the colours to match the stone to be repaired.  However, to mix colours, you must follow the supplied chart and measure epoxy by weight (not by volume)
To get started with the repair, protect the surrounding stones with masking tape. As soon as the job is done the tape must be removed. The next step is to let the Epoxy cure for a couple of hours after which, with a good scraper, you can remove the excess epoxy and level the bead to the height of the adjacent stone. The total curing time after this is a day. By the second day, when the epoxy has cured, you can hone and polish the epoxy and the nearby stone with a grinder and diamond discs. When the polishing is done, the repair is finished.
