Polished concrete is one of the most durable and amazing looking surfaces for commercial floors. Maintaining it requires proper care, attention to detail, and some sage advice.
For those who have large commercial spaces that rely on polished concrete, then having the right machines is going to make all the difference in the world. The ‘right machines’ are those that can cover the surface area that exists in a safe manner. This is especially important if you have a commercial space that welcomes outside customers or clients on a regular basis, and even 24 hours a day, such as hospitals.
Once you invest in the proper floor cleaning machines, then follow some of these steps listed below to help maintain your commercial polished concrete floors in the best manner possible.
1. Dust mop daily. While you may not dust mop, you want to use a microfiber pad on your sweeping machine or broom to collect as many dust particles as you can. Dirt and other soil can become abrasive and this will eventually destroy the clarity and luster of your concrete floors.
2. Mop using clean water. When using an automatic floor scrubber, use a nonabrasive pad. For smaller areas, use a soft mop and make sure to use a new, clean mop head and water each time you clean the floor.
3. Get spills and stains up as soon as possible. This can be complicated for larger commercial spaces, but any time that a spill or stain is noticed or reported, your maintenance crew should address it as soon as possible. Letting any type of stain sit can potentially lead to damage of the polished concrete surface.
4. Use a safe cleaning solution. Not only do you have to be concerned about safety for your clients or customers, you also want to protect the polished surface. Always check a potentially new cleaning solution on an obscure, hidden area of the floor surface to ensure that it won’t damage the floor itself.
