You have a large commercial space. You’ve hired a maintenance crew for many tasks and one of them is ensuring that the floor is care for properly. Many business owners simply leave it to their maintenance crew to figure out the best method for maintaining commercial floors.
Other owners understand how important the right equipment and techniques matter. Here are some questions that you should ask in order to figure out whether your commercial floors are getting the proper care and attention they deserve.
1. How often are the floors being thoroughly cleaned? The answer to this question should depend on the usage that the building sees. A building that doesn’t see a lot of foot traffic might not require as much regular cleaning and maintenance as, for example, a busy hospital.
Any floor, though, regardless of use, should be washed at least once per week. Most commercial floors that get regular use should be cleaned daily.
2. What chemicals are being used to clean those floors? There are many different cleaning chemicals on the market, and they’re not all the same. In fact, some can be potentially harmful to clients, customers, or employees.
Focus on environmentally safe and friendly chemicals. This will come in handy when it comes time to market your business to the general public.
3. Does the floor look as good now as when it was brand new? It’s a good idea to take pictures of your commercial flooring when it’s installed. That will make it much easier to compare its condition then and now.
If you notice damage, unnecessary wear, or neglect, it’s time to talk to your maintenance department.
4. What type of equipment is being used? The equipment that is used is going to be essential to quality. If you don’t invest in the best equipment for the size of the space, the usage the floors see, and more, your maintenance crew will be limited one what they can actually do to keep it looking in the best condition possible.
