Marble can make any commercial business look amazing. It has the lasting allure that causes people to notice whenever it’s used, whether it’s on countertops of even the flooring. Maintaining marble can be difficult, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Polished marble is easier to maintain than unpolished or finished, and when it’s lain on the floor, it can shine and be a pleasant allure to building. Depending on the type of marble flooring that any commercial business has, maintenance may take longer and require more care than other types of flooring, such as ceramic or linoleum.
If you have a marble floor installed in your business, below are a few tips to help you or your maintenance crew keep it clean.
1. Use cold, clean water to begin with. You don’t want to use hot water because this can affect the marble, especially when you’re trying to remove dirt and other soils from the stone. Marble tends to be porous and dirt can get into those pores far easier than on other surfaces.
2. Add stone soap to the water. Using a detergent like stone soap is best. You want to make sure that you keep the pH balance around 7, which is considered very mild (or neutral).
3. Mop in a normal, rhythmic fashion. Apply the water mixture to the floor and move the mop as you would on any other floor. Be sure that you overlap in order to cover every square inch of the commercial flooring.
4. Once you’re done mopping the floor, do it again with clean water. Once you’ve completely mopped the marble floor, do it again but with clean, cool water this time. You will be getting up the majority of the dirt that might be left behind with the first mopping.
