Tips to Make Cleaning Grout Easier: It’s All in the Tools

Grout Out Tile and Grout CleanerTaking care of any large area requires more time and, in certain situations, better tools. If you are responsible for cleaning a commercial floor or even restroom facilities in a school, hospital, or mall, for example, you’re likely going to have to deal with a lot of grout.

Many public restroom facilities and commercial floors are made from some type of tile and that usually requires grout to keep them all in line and together. Washing down the tile surface is one challenge, but keeping the grout clean as well can be something else entirely.

The Challenges of Cleaning Grout

Unlike a ceramic tile surface, the grout that surrounds each tile and keeps them all in line together is a porous and rough surface. It will also be set down slightly lower than the main surface of the tile. Using a scrubber or professional floor cleaning machine will usually be effective at cleaning the tile, but it may only push some dirty water down to the grout lines.

Over time this grout will begin to collect more and more dirt and that’s going to make it much more difficult to keep it clean.

Tips to Help Keep Grout Clean

In order to keep grout looking its best, it requires special tools. Having the right tools, such as a grout cleaning machine, is the best way to maintain commercial spaces.

You’ll also want to pay special attention to the grout at least once a week, if you clean the floors and other surfaces once a week. Making sure that you get into the grout lines with the bristle portion of the machine and applying the right chemicals to the surface is tantamount to success.

If you neglect the grout on any commercial floor or other space, eventually the grout will become dirtier and it will make the entire floor surface appear dingy and grungy, which is definitely not something you want.
