Commercial floors are known as a bastion for all things sticky. People who walk around in any type of commercial setting such as a mall or hospital are bound to drop things, spit them out, and wreak all sorts of havoc on those floors. One of the most persistent and, unfortunately, common ones is gum. People chew gum all of the time. Many of these gum chewers are honest, hardworking people who respect the places where they go enough to not spit it out right there in the middle of the floor. That doesn’t mean they don’t track it in.
Getting gum on your shoe will eventually mean that it gets onto a floor surface somewhere. When it gets onto your commercial floors, you want to be sure that you remove it as soon as possible so that it doesn’t become a more significant problem over time.
Below are a few tips that you can use to remove gum and gum residue from commercial floors.
1. Remove excess gum. You can use a simple putty knife or even a butter knife to remove whatever excess gum you can get to. You should use caution so that you don’t accidentally scratch the floor surface itself.
2. Place a plastic bag full of ice directly on the gum. Using this technique will freeze the remaining gum and that will make it easier to remove.
3. After 10 minutes, use that scraper and carefully pop the remaining gum from the floor surface. Once you do this, you can then proceed to clean the floor as you normally do.

A word about harsh chemicals.
There are plenty of chemicals that will remove the gum in one shot, but there are limitations and problems with this. The most significant is that they are not always safe for people around you.
