It’s a good idea to have a clear understanding about where germs have a tendency to hide throughout office environments. During winter, the risk of colds, the flu, and other viruses increase. That’s because there will be less fresh air moving throughout the building, ultimately exposing people to more and more germs on various surfaces.

Let’s look at a few places where you might want to have your commercial floor or general maintenance personnel pay extra attention to ensure the cleanest possible facility.

On desks.

You’re not responsible for cleaning tasks, but if there are tables, cubicles where people may place their hands, or other surfaces that have a tendency to see a lot of extra touching by bare hands, take a damp cloth dipped in proper cleaning solution and wipe those surfaces down quickly.

You don’t have to spend a lot of time, especially if you have anti-bacterial cleaning solutions.

Door handles.

Door handles are huge when it comes to spreading germs and bacteria. Use an antibacterial cleaning solution, damp rag, and wipe off the door handles throughout the facility.

Railings.

When people walk up and down stairs, they certainly might not need the support of a railing to help them out, but a lot of people use them instinctively. Their hands are sliding along that railing, spreading the germs around.

Take that same cloth, or preferably a new one, with that antibacterial cleaning solution, and wipe down those railings. Wipe down the railing all around, top and bottom.

When you do this, not only will the facility look cleaner, it will be healthier and safer for everyone who uses it.
