Spring Cleaning and Keeping Consumers and Tenants Safe

Spring Cleaning and Keeping Consumers and Tenants SafeThe primary goal of any business is to generate revenue, reduce expenses, and maximize profits. Along the periphery are a number of other aspects that need to be focused on to help reduce long-term costs. One of those is keeping tenants and potential consumers safe whenever they approach and are on your commercial property.

That’s why it’s essential to keep commercial floors clean and in good condition all year round. During winter, the challenges become enormous to keep the floor safe. With snow, slush, and ice being tracked in, it’s easier for people to slip, especially on tile floors.

Now that winter has passed, even though there may be an occasional snow shower or storm, it’s important to focus on spring cleaning. Below are a few tips to keep in mind that can help keep consumers and tenants safe.

Use signs whenever necessary.

Warning signs, wet floor signs, and other signals can tell people when conditions are potentially slippery and unsafe. By drawing attention to the potential problem, it increases the likelihood that people will pay more attention when walking throughout the commercial building.

Consider having maintenance personnel work during the overnight hours.

If it’s a commercial business that’s open 24 hours a day, this may already be happening, but if the building generally closes down in the evening or nighttime hours and doesn’t open up again until the early morning hours, there are plenty of hours for maintenance personnel to clean the floors thoroughly without concerns about anybody slipping and falling.

Buff and wax the floors.

If the commercial floors haven’t been stripped and waxed in a long time, now is the time to do it. Schedule some time to strip and wax the floors so they look brand new and ready for the new season ahead.

If this job can be done when the building is not being used at all, it will be easier for the maintenance department and safer for everyone involved.
